Pomona Hope Kids Coordinator Campaign

All donations are tax deductible! And you're helping level the playing field for kids in a disadvantaged community!

For those who do not know what Pomona Hope is, you can find a ton of information here. This position this is for the After School Program and the Summer Enrichment Program which serves 50 kids in a low-income community, FOR FREE, year round.

After School with Pomona Hope is dedicated to working alongside parents and community members on behalf of Pomona’s youth. We aim to provide resources and a safe, affirming environment for youth to grow and learn. We understand that each child is unique, and seek to unlock their unique potential. During the school year, we help kids K-12th grade with their homework, provide snacks, and play gym games every day, teach art lessons once or twice a week, teach them to use computers, take them to the community garden, provide Bible study lessons, and have reading groups or individualized tutoring for them once a week. And so much more!

During the summer, we guide college-aged interns as they create an entire summer program for our K-8th grade students (our high school students help as , from the ground up, which the students attend for a month. At Summer Enrichment with Pomona Hope, the students participate in drama and reading workshops, other workshops may be provided which our interns are passionate about: Science, Math, History, Gardening, Art, Computers, etc.

As the Kids Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, I actually do two full-time jobs in one. I am responsible for the programming for kids aged K-6th grade, making sure everything is running well overall and on a day-day basis, including preparing art lessons, pairing students with specific volunteers for homework and reading times, keeping records of report cards and awards from school, and gathering and printing whatever is needed for various other workshops. I am also responsible for all communications with current and potential volunteers, scheduling who will be where at what time every day, preparing and running volunteer training sessions, keeping records of fingerprints, and coordinating and preparing volunteer appreciation gifts.

And those are just the regular activities! Being a small non-profit, we try to keep up with all the opportunities offered to us as well, and with a staff of 3, we all pitch in to help with such opportunities as they arise.

But here's where we need help: we only have enough money to pay my salary at full-time for another 2 months. I'm already working as fast as possible to get everything done for these two jobs, but if my time gets cut, it won't all get done. If it doesn't all get done, the kids won't get as quality a program. The kids are the ones who will suffer.

Please help by donating whatever you can on this page, OR you can go to the Pomona Hope Donation Page and donate to us directly (but PLEASE remember to type "Kids Coordinator" in the comments).

And please, share with your friends!

All donations are tax-deductible!
